Short mat bowls is an indoor sport in which players attempt to score points by rolling a heavy ball along a fairly flat surface, to gain as many shots as possible by getting their bowls nearer to the jack than their opponents, and so outscore them. The game is a modern variation on lawn bowls, from which the game is derived.
We meet weekly for a social game of bowls, with the intention of improving the way we all play, and having some fun! We have a mix of players of all ages - some very experienced, some beginners - so don't think that you have to be an expert to join in! We meet every Wednesday night at the Village Hall, Salem between 7-9pm, so if you fancy having a go, please come and join us.
Some of the members of the club form a team to compete in the Carmarthenshire Short Mat Bowls league. The league runs from October through to the following April each year, with weekly matches either played at home or away.
